CARLOS CORONAS,  Lampyridae

Lampyridae is a space installation project, elaborated with large complex polygonal structures, whose forms simulate organisms and on which light tubes are supported that change their light intensity through electronic systems, thus generating the feeling of being living organisms.

These changes are not perceived as something adjective but substantial; not an addition of electrical processes to the frameworks, but rhythms of a living organism, regular variations of a metabolism that we do not understand but that powerfully evokes the leisurely breathing of some hibernate, or sleeping beings, or the signs of an indecipherable communication between cephalopods or luminescent insects like the lampyridae that inspire the work of Carlos Coronas.
